MOUNTAIN ROUTES

Siniscola presents an incredible multifaceted landscape, which makes it also perfect as a mountain resort.

A must-see for hiking enthusiasts is Monte Albo, a limestone plateau that towers above the town of Siniscola. Along its 13 km, it is rich in gorges and white caves, to the point of being called "the mountain of the Sardinian Dolomites". Here you can breathe in the air of the woods and walk along ancient paths, and perhaps observe the great variety of fauna in the area; among the most characteristic animal species are the Sardinian Felix Sarda, the rare Sardinian golden eagle and a particular "living fossil" known as the "Geotriton of Monte Albo" (Speleomantes Flavus). The entire area is a Site of Community Interest (SCI) and has become a popular tourist destination for those who want to undertake excursions on foot, by bicycle, off-road or even on horseback, experiencing contact with unspoilt nature.

Capo comino

A must for those who choose Siniscola as their holiday resort is Capo Comino beach, one of the most extraordinary natural landscapes in Sardinia. Here too, wild beauty reigns supreme, with white dunes, crystal-clear waters and centuries-old junipers. Making the spectacle even more impressive are two coastal salt pans where pink flamingos are often spotted and, right in front of the beach, the "Isola Ruja", a red porphyry islet that can be reached by swimming or on foot. Diving underwater provides an opportunity to admire the remains of a Roman fleet dating back to the time of Nero and the wreck of a French Air Force Corsair, while a walk southwards leads to the lighthouse of Capo Comino. It should be noted that, besides being a popular tourist attraction, Capo Comino has been chosen to shoot several films, such as "Travolti da un insolito destino nell'azzurro mare d'agosto" starring Giancarlo Giannini and Mariangela Melato, "Black Stallion" by Francis Ford Coppola, and "Travolti dal destino" (2001) starring Madonna.

BEACH RESORT

La Caletta

La Caletta is a hamlet of Siniscola located northeast of the coast, which has become a well-known seaside resort with several hotels and interesting nightlife. In this marvellous tourist resort, you can stroll along the quays of the harbour (where tourist boats and fishing boats are allowed to moor) and relax lying on the beach, where the white of the fine sand blends with the cobalt blue and emerald green hues of the seabed. The beach is surrounded by pine forest on one side and the pond on the other, with Monte Albo as a backdrop.
